• How do I buy CONCERT & LIVE EVENT tickets online?
It couldn't be easier! Just visit our website www.rocklandstrand.com and click on the BUY TICKETS NOW link on the home page. (*Please note there is a $2.50 per ticket processing fee for all internet orders.)

• Can I buy my CONCERT & LIVE EVENT tickets by phone?
You certainly may! Just give us a call Monday-Friday from 12 noon to 5pm, and our staff will be happy to help you. (*Please note there is a $2.50 per ticket processing fee for all phone orders.)

• Why do you charge a ticket-processing fee?
We charge this fee to help off-set the costs associated with being able to offer an internet and phone based ticketing service. Compared to other ticketing services, our fees are on the lower-end, and we think they are quite reasonable.

• How do I pick up my CONCERT & LIVE EVENT tickets?
If your tickets were ordered online or by phone, you may choose to pick them up at WILL CALL the day-of-show at the Box Office window. Tickets may not be picked up beforehand. If you prefer to have your tickets in hand prior to the day-of-show, you may choose to have them mailed for a $1 mailing fee.

• How do I buy tickets for Metropolitan Opera simulcasts?
Tickets will be available for each season's "Met At The Movies" series on an announced schedule (usually beginning in August). They can be purchased at our walk-up window, online, or by phone. Tickets for Met Opera performances are sold individually, or in a convenient season ticket package! Please note that all "Met At The Movies" seats are reserved.

• What is your ticket refund policy?
Tickets are non-refundable. If you cannot make it to a show for whatever reasons, we recommend that you try and re-sell your ticket at the door, or give it to a friend to use. However, refunds or exchanges will be given in the event of a cancelled show (see below). Also, please see our "terms of use" disclaimer on our website ticketing page.

• What happens if a show is cancelled?
In the event of a show cancellation, we will contact you via phone or e-mail as soon as we can to arrange a ticket refund or exchange. If the artist can get here for the show, so can you, and the show will go on regardless of weather. If the artist is unable to perform, we will notify ticket holders of the cancellation as best we can.

• Balcony Bar? You've got a Balcony Bar?
We do! Located in our balcony, the Strand Balcony Bar offers a fine selection of beer and wine, and a friendly and courteous bartender waiting to serve you. It's a very civilized way to enjoy a movie or concert. The Bar is open on Fridays and Saturdays during our regularly scheduled films in July and August, and also for select concerts and special events. We ask that patrons drink responsibly and appropriately for a performance atmosphere. Please Note: State law requires that patrons be 21 or older to sit in the balcony when the bar is open.

• What kind of movies do you show?
The Strand prides itself on its program of fine independent films, the majority of which are first-run, current releases that are also playing in the major metropolitan areas. Although it is likely that you will be familiar with some of the films that we choose to bring to the Strand, we also occasionally offer smaller independent titles that you may not have heard of, but are films that we believe deserve to be seen and recognized. We also offer special film events, film festivals, and retrospective/classic titles from time to time.

• How do you chose your movies?
We follow the development of upcoming film releases closely, and choose films that we feel would appeal most to our audience. Some of our criteria for choosing the films we offer include; good audience response in other markets, critical acclaim, film festival and industry awards, and solid reviews. Film booking is a highly competitive business, and although we can't always get the film we want exactly when we want it - we're always working to bring new and exciting cinema to Strand audiences. We also take suggestions!

• How long does a movie stay up on screen?
We feature a new film every week, which starts on Friday and runs through Thursday, so you have a full week to catch our latest film. However, we will occasionally run bigger titles for two weeks, and sometimes we don't have a film screening on a given day due to a special event or concert taking place at the theatre.

• How come you're only showing one movie? Didn't the Strand used to show two?
The Strand was built in 1923 as a classic single-screen neighborhood theatre, and it wasn't until 1979 that the balcony was closed off to provide space for a second screen. When the theatre was renovated in 2004-2005, it was decided to return the auditorium to its original single-screen configuration. We pride ourselves on being a ÒclassicÓ single-screen movie house, and many of our patrons feel some of the best seats are in the balcony!

• How are your movies shown?
We're proud to say that most of our films are shown the traditional way - using real 35mm film and a side-by-side pair of state-of-the-art projectors, attended by a real live projectionist throughout each performance. Nothing is automated, and our system is capable of showing any 35mm film format, whether silent or sound, in the proper aspect ratio and at the correct speed. For special events, we're also equipped for various formats of high quality digital projection.

• Do you offer a frequent movie-goer discount?
Yes, we offer a special ten-show discount card for our regular movie patrons. Ask about this offer at the box office next time you come by!

• Do you have gift certificates?
Absolutely! The STRAND GIFT CARD is a welcome gift for any occasion, and is available for any amount. You can use it like cash for tickets to any regularly scheduled Strand film, for treats at our concession stand, or at our Balcony Bar. *Please note: Gift Cards cannot be used for concerts & special event tickets.

• Can you get my favorite artist for a concert at the Strand?
We're always looking for fresh, exciting live shows, so by all means drop a note in our suggestion box in the lobby. Scheduling live acts is a complicated business, with much depending on the coordination of performer schedules with available dates in our own calendar - and while we can't guarantee any particular performer at any specific time, we're very interested in knowing who you'd most like to see!

• Can I rent the Strand for my own personal event?
The Strand has proudly hosted a number of special events, ranging from corporate conferences to staff parties to weddings - and we'd be happy to talk with you about your own function. To find out more about how we can work with you in making your event happen, just call the Strand business office at 207-594-0070 ext. 5, or email us at info@rocklandstrand.com.

• Can an outside promoter rent the Strand for a concert or special event?
Yes, the Strand is for rent to commercial/private promter's. Please call our business office for information and rental rates: (207)594-0070 ext. 5 or email us at info@rocklandstrand.com.

• Can I advertise my business in the Strand Preshow or Calendar?
Absolutely. Just call the Strand business office at 594-0070 ext. 4, and we'll be happy to discuss full particulars.

• When does your printed calendar come out?
We print a calendar of upcoming films, events, and concerts every 6 weeks. Calendars are available at the theatre, or at various business locations in Rockland, Camden, Belfast, and other surrounding locations.

• What are those round things on the floor?
Some say they're convenient 1920s era stands for suave gentlemen to use when storing their top hats, but the truth is more prosaic - they're ventilation outlets for our heating air conditioning system, and are especially refreshing places to sit on a summer afternoon!
