After sold-out, standing-ovation performances at the Umbria and Sudtirol Festival in Italy, composer, and bandoneón player par excellence, J.P. Jofre will make his Bay Chamber Concerts debut with a sensuous program of music by Astor Piazolla, Leo Brower, and his own much-praised compositions.
A winner of the National Prize of the Arts Grant in Argentina, Mr. Jofre has taken contemporary tango to some of the most important venues in Asia, Europe, America and the Caribbean as soloist, composer and arranger. He has collaborated with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Paquito D' Rivera Sextet, Nina Beilina, Dartmouth Wind Symphony Orchestra, Westchester Jazz Orchestra, San Juan National Symphony Orchestra, and I soloist di Perugia, among many others.
Mr. Jofre has also received commissions from many festivals and orchestras such as the Umbria Jazz Festival, Musica de Camara, and Bachanalia Taiwan. J.P. Jofre's first CD features 11-time Grammy Winner Paquito D' Rivera, who recorded "Primavera", an original composition by Mr. Jofre.
