Stories of the Land and its People

Presented by The Farnsworth Art Museum

An opening event for STORIES OF THE LAND AND ITS PEOPLE will take place at The Strand Theatre, in which families and the community are invited to gather and celebrate the culmination of this year-long project.

In its third year, the STORIES project is a year-long collaboration between the Farnsworth and six local public schools: Appleton, Hope, Lincolnville, Islesboro, Rockland South School, and Rockland District Middle School. While art instruction and art appreciation are being introduced into their teachers’ lessons, fourth and seventh-grade students are taking their own photographs in the community and in their classrooms under the guidance of their teachers, museum professionals, and mentor artists. After the public opening in the Strand Theatre, the students’ creations will be on display in Julia’s Gallery on Elm Street and in the Farnsworth’s main building.
