Reopening News and Safety Guidelines

Wecome Back!

At the Strand, we’re thrilled to be able to open our doors and welcome you back to the theater!

To keep our patrons and staff safe during this gradual transition back to “normal,” we’ll continue to monitor the local and regional data including vaccination rates, trends in Covid-19 case counts, and the science of transmission risks as we take careful steps forward. After opening on June 11 with a 20% auditorium capacity, we’ve now expanded that capacity to 30%, or 100 patrons per show for movies. We will continue to operate with the same in-house safety protocols (see below).

The Strand is committed to being accessible to all, and we are striving to maintain as safe a space as possible for everyone in our community. Though many in our community are now vaccinated, others are not, whether due to a medical condition or being under the age of 12, and we will continue with our stated policies to ensure these members of our community can access the Strand experience with limited risk.

We appreciate your flexibility and understanding that the Strand's schedule and operating procedures are fluid, and will shift as the situation with the virus evolves.

Health & Safety Guidelines

Out of respect for one another and the comfort and safety of all:
  • We require all visitors to wear a mask upon entering and moving about the building.
  • Fully-vaccinated visitors may remove masks once seated. Please remember to replace your mask when getting up from your seat.
  • Unvaccinated visitors must stay masked for the duration of your stay.
  • Seating is general admission. We ask that you please choose seats that allow space between your party and others. Each movie screening will be capped at 100 people, which is 30% of the auditorium capacity. This will allow for ample distance between seated patrons.
  • Strand staff will be monitoring and enforcing these outlined safety protocols.
  • Our ventilation system has been upgraded with a new control module allowing pinpoint control of fresh air flow, UV light purification, and MERV-13 hospital-grade air filtration.
  • We will be allotting extra time between screenings for enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of the auditorium, restrooms and common areas.
