Part of the JUBILEE SERIES: 40th Anniversary!

This comedic fantasy-horror film tells the highly original tale of what happens when a young main, Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) is gifted with a unique, furry little creature – Gizmo, a mogwai-but inadvertently fails to heed three simple warnings that come with his new pet. The rules: never get him wet, keep him out of bright light , and never, never feed him after midnight. before Billy knows it, his sleepy, picture postcard-perfect town of Bedford Falls is under siege from hordes of small, mischievous creatures hellbent on wreaking as much havoc and destruction as they possibly can.

Our JUBILEE SERIES celebrates the experience of movie-watching in theaters, with a series of films that have anniversaries in 2024! For a hundred years, film fanatics, cinefiles and general movie-goers alike have come in droves to see motion pictures on the sliver screen – settling down into comfy seats in the darkened auditorium of their favorite movie palace, with their popcorn and Mike-n-Ike’s, to be transported to lands of wonder and moments of great fervor. In recent years, the convenience of streaming at home has shifted the way that we view films, but deep down we still hold onto the feeling we got sitting in the theater.

2024 boasts a plethora of major anniversaries for films that many hold near and dear to their hearts. Over the next several months, the Strand will be offering you the chance to see your nostalgic favorites in the way you did when you first fell in love with them – in a classic theater! We’ll be showing top pick films that are celebrating their 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th anniversaries and beyond, from Indiana Jones to The Wizard of Oz. We hope to see you there!
