An Art Road Trip

Bo Bartlett and Betsy Eby are nationally recognized painters. After seven years in the making, Bo and Betsy have come forth with their first film together, SEE – an art road trip, which had its world premier at the Camden International Film Festival in September of 2013.

In 2006, Bo and Betsy had the idea to make a movie about seeing the beauty of America through a transpartisan lens. Through artists’ eyes, they convey the America they see and offer up the idea that art and beauty are everywhere, you just have to open your eyes to it.

“There is a feeling in this life, often overlooked, of being alive; of seeing something you’ve never seen before. The way the light falls across the wall, or a face, or a field. Sometimes it’s triggered by a sound: a distant train. It’s a feeling of awareness. But sometimes, sometimes art, induces these feelings. It wakes us up and it can activate emotion, a deep emotion, it’s like nostalgia: painful and beautiful. And this feeling gets lodged in us; deep in our being. And we can feel at home in it. And we want to feel this feeling again and again. All we have to do is look for it." - Bo
