Health and Safety Policies

Welcome to the Strand!

In the face of the continuing surge in COVID cases and the appearance of the Omicron variant in Maine, the Strand continues to work to protect the health and safety of our community and ensure the stability of our local healthcare system.

Let’s do everything we can to take care of one another! Many thanks from all of us at the Strand!

Until further notice, for all persons age 5 and up the Strand is requiring proof of vaccination, OR the official lab results of a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours of showtime, for all public events including movies, concerts, and live broadcasts of the MET Opera.

PROOF OF FULL VACCINATION—14 days after final vaccination—includes a vaccine card or a clear and readable photo of your vaccine card. Please be ready to show your vaccine card AND a valid photo ID.

PROOF OF NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST RESULTS must be from a test taken within 48 hours of showtime, and must be an official lab results report that includes your name and the date. Results from at home tests will not be accepted. Please be prepared to show negative test results AND a valid photo ID.

Please be prepared to provide proof of vaccination or negative test results, AND a photo ID, for admittance.

*Children under age 5 are exempt from the vaccine/testing requirement but must remain masked while at the Strand.*

We require all Strand patrons age 2 and up and staff to WEAR A FACE MASK  that covers the mouth and nose upon entering the theater, and to remain masked for the duration of their stay, except when seated inside the theater while actively eating and drinking. Concessions may not be available at some shows.

If you have purchased a ticket for an event and cannot comply with these polices, the Strand will issue a refund. Email: [email protected] with your ticket info and confirmation number to secure your refund.

MOVIES   Audience capacity for most screenings is capped at 50 people (14% of  auditorium capacity). Seating is general admission; however, we ask that you practice careful social distancing when choosing your seat.

MET OPERA LIVE-IN-HD BROADCASTS    Audience capacity is capped at 100 people (30% of  auditorium capacity). Audiences will have reserved-seat ticketing that provides a buffer of space around each party.

LIVE CONCERTS and PERFORMANCES   Audience capacity is capped at 60-70%. For specific seating capacity for each show, please see the show's page on this website.

Strand staff will be monitoring patron compliance with these safety protocols.

The ventilation system has been upgraded with a new control module allowing pinpoint control of fresh air flow, UV light purification, and MERV-13 hospital-grade air filtration.

Extra staff time has been allotted for enhanced cleaning of our auditorium, restrooms, and common areas, and a hand sanitizer station has been installed.

A plexiglass barrier at our concessions counter protects both staff and patrons.
