(Original title: Un Poeta)
An absurdist dark comedy that questions the cliche of the tortured artist, A Poet follows Oscar Restrepo, an aging, failed poet living in Medellín who is struggling with alcoholism and unemployment.
When Oscar reluctantly takes a job as a substitute teacher, he discovers a naturally gifted student, Yurlady. He attempts to mentor her, but his motives become blurred as he tries to reclaim his own lost glory through her talent. The film serves as a biting satire of the “cultural class” that attempts to exploit the stories of the impoverished for artistic clout.
