PUPPET WORKSHOP

Want to know more about the “magic” that can turn foam and fabric puppets into characters that often seem as real as you or me? Join Ryan Jackson for a fast-paced intro to puppet performance. You’ll learn the basics of controlling puppets and test the skills that professional puppeteers use to make characters move, talk and connect with the audience. Then, stick around for a screening of MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND and see how the puppeteers at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop used these skills to bring this classic tale of adventure to life!

No experience is necessary and a wide range of puppets will be available to explore and bring to life! This workshop is best suited for elementary and middle school students. Youth in grades K-2 are invited to join, but may benefit from the support of an accompanying adult.

Ryan Jackson is a performer/teaching artist who has been working with youth/community for the last 25+ years. Ryan has an extensive background in Puppetry and the Puppetry Arts, including performing Off-Broadway at the New York City Children’s Theatre Festival. Performance credits include AVENUE Q and THE VELVETEEN RABBIT.
